Goose Creek Riparian Buffer Restoration Project 

Saturday, April 17, 9am – 11:30am

Meeting Place: Greenfield Park at S. Franklin

  • Working in partnership with the Tree Commission, the West Chester Tree Team is organizing an invasive plant removal project at Greenfield Park and Mosteller Park at E. Rosedale Ave. Both sites provide easy foot access to volunteers as well as public works for vegetation disposal. Small children are better left at home for this one, however, there is a playground that they can enjoy while parents help out.
  • What to Bring: Bring your own tools (hand saws, hand clippers, hedge cutters, gloves, boots, shovels, wheelbarrows, etc.) to help remove vegetation.

Plastic Free Chester County Panel Discussion

Wednesday, April 21, 7 p.m. 

  • Speakers: Faran Savitz of Penn Environment, Gillean Alicea of the West Chester Borough Sustainability Advisory Council and the West Chester Green Team, and Pennsylvania State Representative Dianne Herrin
  • This virtual event is hosted by the WCU Office of Sustainability, the West Chester Green Team, and members of the Chester County Environment Alliance.

Earth Day Art Stroll & Festival

Thursday, April 22, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Enjoy environment-related chalk art on many sidewalks, and an in-person show outside the Chesco History Center (masks, distancing). Join the West Chester Green Team to view chalkings up and down S. and N. High St. in West Chester Borough and in an outdoor art exhibit at the Chesco Historical Society–all on Earth Day themes! 2021 West Chester Community Cleanup 

April 24 and 25

  • The 2021 West Chester Community Cleanup is a fun, safe way to get out and make a positive impact in our community!
  • How to Participate
    •  Sign up as an individual or single-household team by clicking here
    • While signing up, claim your 2-3 block cleanup area and complete the liability waiver
    • Prior to the event, a cleanup kit will be delivered to the address you provide, or if outside of the Borough you can pick up your kit at 401 E. Gay Street the week of April 19th
    • Get out there! The Cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 24th and Sunday, April 25, though to keep the event COVID-safe there is no exact time
    • Take a picture of your team in action and post it to social media using the hashtag #CleanAndGreenWC
    • Finally, drop off trash and recycling bags at the closest designated drop-off location (a map will be included with your cleanup kit)

  • Virtual forum on environmental topics with candidates for West Chester Mayor and Borough Council, sponsored by League of Women Voters of Chester County, West Chester NAACP, and West Chester Green Team.
